2003 saw the first supercharged 4-Stroke engine in a production PWC, back then producing 185hp with no intercooler was excellent considering the other manufactures were still using large displacement 2-stroke engines to produce horse power.
The new concept came with its problems with the notorious delicate ceramic washers fitted circa 2004-2007 to prevent clutch wear were prone to unfortunate failures, 2008 saw the introduction of gold metal clutch disks which made substantial improvements to durability.
The kit released in 2010 with molybdenum coated washers kit has proved to be a great design.
When a rebuild is performed the casings are cleaned the old bearings, seals and shaft are removed and replaced with the new items in the rebuild kit.
The parts that are re-used are the impeller (wheel) and casings.
