SEA DOO FUEL PUMP problems

Years of workshop experience working with Seadoo craft has presented many different fuel supply issues.

In this Blog we will explain the common causes of a loss of fuel pressure and ways to get around these and get back on the water.

The Rotax Seadoo intank fuel pump is a fantastic design similar to automotive system and controls its own fuel pressure within the tank so no return lines are required, the pump is lubricated and cooled by the surrounding fuel so the most common cause of pump motor failures are water ingress into the tank. At this point either the whole module assembly can be replaced or we can supply motor pump repair kits which are a cheaper but more labour intensive option.

Debris in the tank causing a drop in fuel pressure over a constant high fuel demand situation such as at WOT for long periods. This can be from bad fuel cans or supplies can be a cause this will normally show itself on the "tea bag" filter on the lowest part of the fuel pump module. These filters are available again in house and a clip on / off system is in place.

Power supply failure will stop the pump from running checking the fuse and then electrical fault finding is required at this point.

Sounds like my issue. 2019 FishPro 137 hrs. At 6 am I start a 234 mile long run, Corpus Christi Texas to Galveston, and about 40 miles into ride, it seemed to glitch/hesitate for split second. Thought maybe I injected a jellyfish? Then, 5 more miles along route, it did it again, and several times thereafter. Then, after about 20 min more of no-problem riding at 6800-7100 rpm, ski just dies. Thought I had pulled the lanyard off the post when I was reaching for something. Nope, it was still attached. WTF?? Pressed start button - fired right up. Ran fine for about 5 mins, then dies again. SMH! Thought maybe fuel was out even though the gauge read …
